I have around 100 M1A1's or if I use Russians I will have about 120 T-80's plus 100 T-72's. Does not matter to me.

March 20th will work for me. Just let me know where (address included and best possible route) and a time.

How many people do you expect will be playing on your end?

Hey, Chris and Paul, I found you guys. Use this thread, ignor my earlier entry. Put the date up so I can bring my stuff. I want to do the next round, and tear up those communist butchers. I still need land and people to, UH... liberate, in the eastern european countries. (Ha-Ha). I need to crush more Soviet troops and burn those Russian hampster wheels you call tanks. At least they will make good moving targets for my gunners to pratice on. Too bad for them. I might even open up a used broken tank lot. (Your turn Paul).
I'll tell ya, I hated not having my pc online. Even broke down and did the dsl thing. Having a blast. Glad I'm up again. I am looking forward to the game this month. Hope to see ya all soon. Be Good and Be Safe. Mick

Chris,

Just count on it being me, I will be asking at least one person but have not up to this point. Greencove Springs is closer but either way is fine, just need to finalize everything as soon as possible. I would prefer heavy stuff. I have M1A1s, T-72s and T-80s to use.

How about the scenrio and everything before hand so we can strategize.

Chris,

I will be there and have a 50-50 chance of bringing another friend along. Mick, hopefully you can make it. Sound slike I might need you along side to hold the Germans off. I suspect the French will run at the first cannon.

Honestly, I am looking forward to playing again. Last game was a blast.

I should be able to make the next game. I've got most of the stuff done here, but have a little more to do, but that shouldn't stop me from being at the next game.
Keep me posted on the schedual. Paul, get my phone number from chris, so we can talk. I got something you would like to know about. Be good and be safe. Mick

Sorry it took a couple of days Mick but I got sick the next day.

Chris managed to hammer my attacking T-80 force but not before I left him with little to mount any counter attacks. His Italian (center) force was decimated within 5-15 minutes. The Germans on his left flank where pushed back early but held their secondary positions and actually prevented the middle from being overrun with long distance strikes. Surprisingly, the French held the right flank for a majority of the battle, but a quick strike on a defensive hill elimnated the majority of the French armor. It also opened a whole that could have been exploited. Since it was late and we both had agreed to no reinforcements we felt the Russians would have to fortify their positions.

The battle did not have any air at all as both sides felt that adequate AA assets would prevent any sucessful operations.

Close to 130 T-80's where destroyed with NATO probably losing less than 70 Tanks. Chris can verify the numbers for his side. Totally enjoyed the battle and look forward to the next get together.

To accurately report... hundreds & hundreds of tanks were engaged along APC's. Mick missed it!! This was his chance to push 80 Abrams and 45 Bradleys, + Hummers....

FYI: Leopards 1's and AMX 30 just do not have all it takes to destroy T-80 every shot...but the Leopard 2A5's do very well when hull down(very nice!).

Is any body up to lose ground against my superior forces?

mick, i have read and am familar w/Cauldron, so we can do some French-German along with most of the rest of Europe vs. Poland, UK, USA(do not remember which side russia was on). But the sea battle between u.s. navy and french air force Mirage 4P & ASMP Missle <> and then the u.s. response with bombs made of cannon tubes is cool. for the naval battle, I will play the u.s. forces. Land battle, i'll do the other side. either way, i'm gonna smack you around! Paul, you & mick are gonna get it.

to tmitch54, where are you in the book, what is happening? keep me abreast of the story line. after i acknowledge it, you can then delete/edit your update. remember the germans have crude weapons, the french have fine, up-to-date, state-of-the-industry equipement.

Chrisswim: Lastest update on Cauldron. During an attempt to reinforce the Poles, an American naval task force was attacked by approximately 50% of the European air force. Their primary mission was to use a nuke against the fleet. One plane managed to launch however the nuke was detonated far enough out to cause little damage.
Poland is pulling a division from the Russian front and engaging the French and Germans.
The US and Britian have landing Marines and light armor in Poland with more to come however no engagement at this time.
France has sent diplomats to Russia. At this point last night I fell asleep. Will give further updates Monday.
Hope this helps.

Chris, don't count the enemy casualties until your engaged in combat. Your french and German equipment will make great beacons for the rats and mice to get to the euro bbq. (They need to eat too).
By the way, if we are going to use nukes for the french, the U.S. should have the option also. Once opened that door can't be closed again. The french should remember that others have the will to use weapons at the same level. Controled use of atomic arms is a possible answer to the use of these weapons by a frustrated nation, as a reminder of whats in store for them if they continue. You know me, I'd use them in return; at a 3 to 1 ratio, all against military and political centers. See ya soon. Be Good and Be Safe. Mick

Chris and Mick,
The Nukes won't come into play in the final phase of the game. In the book the US and British do an awesome job of taking out all known launching sites with massive air strikes. Currently I am at the point where the 101st has been deployed on the ground. An advance party has engaged the Germans. With the help of TOW's and artillery they have stopped the German advance toward Gedansk (sp). The German Division has been recalled by the French which is very frustrating to the German commander.
The French/German military site at Metz has been totally destroyed by multiple Naval air strikes which is setting up a chance for the US to convince the Belgiums to pull out of the EurCon group.
One thing I found interesting was during the artillery barrage the US used shells that exploded in the air dispensing parachutes of radar guided munitions which then attacked the German armor. Can you tell me something about this?

Improved Conventional Muntions.

Our tube Arty(and many others) use this weapon and the M.L.R.S. also uses it with the M26 Warhead which has 644 M77 DPICM (Duel Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions), which is a "shaped-charge blast fragmentation bomblet weighing 213g each, nestled with eight polyurethane foam supports. Armor penetration is 76 to 102 mm. An M445 remotely set electronic time fuze in the warhead initiates dispersal of the ribbon-stablisied bomblets in mid-air over the target. The range of this version is 31,,600m. At mid-range each warhead of a salvo will saturate a 200 X 100 m sized target. The Phase I rocket was used operationally great success during Operation Desert Storm in 1991." JANE'S ARMOUR & ARTILLERY 1996-97, 17 ED.pp 779-780. So basically, it is a heat-round going through the top of the tank. Since the gulf war, several new rounds have been deployed, and can lay a mine-filed(at, ap, or mixed) for area denial. Prior to the development of the ICM's, most rounds were HE Frag of some sort, to my knowledge. Those using the MLRS(m270)include Bahrain-9, Denmark-12, France-55, Germany-150, Greece-18, Israel-48, Italy-24, Japan-36, Netherlands-22, Norway-12, Turkey-24, UK-63, and US-over 800, Ibid, pg. 782. There may be others now. Tmitch, hope that this info helps.

To Tmitch: also the US has a TACMS, which has different software package in the M270 and replaces six missles, with great range for delivery having est. range of 124km. Each warhead contains 950 M74 AP?anti-material bomblets. There is a BAT development for tank concertration(thank you Jane's).

Gentlemen: As always I am in awe of the knowledge that can be obtained from this chat room. Thanks for the information. I hope your game goes well. I have almost finished Cauldren. It appears that due to two internal factions, within the Russian and German forces, the French will be standing alone at the end. I have already ordered Bond's next two books from ebay. I hope they have the information and action that the first three had. Again, my thanks for your replys. Tony

Just thought I'd share a little artillery knowledge. Never read the book you guys are talking about, but guided subminitions with parachutes probably refers to SADARM rounds (seek and destroy armor). It's fairly new, but used to great effect last year. The ICM / DPICM is unguided and uses a short ribbon to stabilize it in flight vice a parachute.
Incidentally, I'm in Iraq right now - just shot some DPICM this week. It is very effective. Hope the game goes well.

Paul, don't listen to the french bragart. He will make a great waiter when we drink wine in paris. The general staff will make excellant food servers as well. Thats all they are good for anyway. As for the german generals, they can shine our vehicle headlights. They are so orderly and effecient. I am sure they will do a good job, if properly supervised, by a cook. Besides, the Polish have promised to save us the target range vehicles, all of those leos and clerks. That is so nice of them. Lets see what we have, T72s, M1a2s, Challengers, and all of the good stuff we like so much. The poor eurco bunch, I feel so sorry for them. Be good and be safe. Mick
