Hey folks I need some advice I want to make some South African armoured units for use in 1/285th scale SADF/Namibia/Cuba games. I need either a manufacture or a possible alternative for the following units. Ratel APC and AFV Rooikat AFV Various SADF wheeled apc Mamba, Casspir, Nyala Olifant Tank, yes i know its a centurion conversion but it looks very different and im no sculpter. and the G-5 and G-6 Artillery piece any ideas would be very helpful. I am using AML-60 and AML-90 for the Eland conversions and UK infantry for the infantry units.

On the South Africans, I have probably over 200 vehicles for them. Over 150 are Ratels, 20/60/90/Cmd/recovery/ logistics. Use a lot of AML 60 & 90's from CinC. What is your email? chris

Chris, per our conversation on South Africans and a Jeep with missiles I did some digging and found this site. http://navwar.co.uk They have under their french selection a Jeep with ENTAC (which my research shows replaced the earlier SS-11 missile system (Heh) ) this is in 1/300 scale and yes i will be ordering 1 to see what it looks like and if ok more of them. This appears to be a Heroics and Ros catalog...... so many new companys to send my money to. Rielly

Hi Rielly, I too am working on adding a South African force to my collection. In addition to the resources already mentioned in this thread here are a few others which may be helpful. Scotia (I think they are in Scotland) makes a whole line of 1/300th South African figures. Now they are not nearly as nice as the CinC figures but they look good enough on their own, especially from three feet away. The link to Scotia is www.scotiagrendel.com Also, I found a website with a few pictures of many of the figures available from Navwar(Heroics & Ros) and Scotia. The link to this site is http://warweb.homelinux.net/modeldb/modeldb.html I hope this information is helpful. Thanks, Tony

Glad to help. I guess, we will have to play micro armor sometime soon. Get a few guys from Gainesville, Keystone Heights FL and possibly get Paul from VA down her to play in Jacksonville. We can play some South Africans. They can fight the Canadians, Germans, Brazil or someother opponent.

Reilly, I 'found' some more South Africans to paint:20-30 more Ratel 20-60-90, Swift & mortar. And several other vehicles. I will need to work on those.

Time for South Africans to take on my Germans. I should smear you all over the desert. Remember, I almost took the nuke from the Israelis. Had it not been for the US force they would have been mine.

Paul, You are welcome to bring your Germans on, my South Africans and crushed a Panzer force and Panzer Grenadier force as well. We are quite capable to not only defend by take the initiative and inflict great loss of material & causalities. Is this what you want? So be it!!! (I wasn't going to wait for your answer, I assumed you wish to get smacked!!). I guess I will need to make a rather large purchase of armor for this one. How many German tank & types do you have?

I too would welcome a chance to scatter German tank parts across the veld. If this is what you want let us commence firing and set a date. I will have a small high mobility South African force but dont discount my ability to take the initiative and outflank a slower moving ponderous tank army like the Germans. I welcome the chance to show uitlanders they have no business in southern Africa. Rielly
