I saw a post where a member basically said they didnt see much use for newer modern (post cold war) models because there arent many scenarios. (Im paraphrasing). Dude! There are more conlficts around the world today than there has ever been. And many more ready to break out. With the hosts permission perhaps we could run a thread to share scenario ideas and/or orders of battle. Especially orders of battle. I have a ton of data to trade...

Indeed. So many of the recent conflicts would involve the 60's and 70's Cold War vehicles. With the right info, they'd be easy to game out. I'd love to be able to trade OoB and TO&E info on WWII units and battles as well. SchnellHeinz

We have used this as a campaign which has generated lots of different scenarios. It's called Tank Lords and Tank Knights. It's based loosely on GDWs old Twilight 2000 story line. We give the player an opition of being a warlord, a mecenary or a retainer. They then pick a company of 10 MBTs and 10 IFVs. They use this unit to carry out various pre-generated missions to gain coin, territory, or prestige. It makes for many interesting games.

Another option for Modern conflicts is the nasty German's are at it again. I have run several German's attacking Poland scenario's. The American's can be involved with Marine or Airborne units. It is fun having M1A1's vs. Leopard II's. Mike

Gimme some info on the Tank Knights thing, please. Im considering trying to start some folks playing modern micro by a campaign similar to yours. Im thinking about calling it Remnants and using the Armor Attacks rules set from the old CinC catalog (with some additions and modifications though). Do you use a points system beyond the introductory order of battle? My problem is that there really isnt a wargaming crowd here in Tucson like I was part of back in Tacoma at American Eagles. So the crowd Im going to try and convert is the 40k, Heroclix, Mechwarrior, Mageknight and various CCG crowd. Any ideas? I've thought that maybe 25mm or 15mm would get people going but I dont have any and really dont want any, ya know? I put out a couple models and got some ooh and aahhhs but and a few that said hmmmmm but beyond that no commitments. Taking on the challenge Ive had to dump some cayshe into buidlings and terrain sooo... Like I said any ideas to get people into it so I can eventually do things like a modrn Napoleonic or even a Battle of 73 Easting?

There was a TV mini-series years ago that I did not watch, called Amerika I think. I belive the premis was a Russian led U.N. invasion of the U.S., also maybe a U.N. invasion of Israel would be interesting. Sounds plausable to me, I don't trust 'em. I'd like to do it but right now I'm more of a micro modeler/dioramist than a gamer, I don't even have any rules yet.

In our town one of our gamers has painted up a force he calls "the New World Order". His vehicles are black with splashes of grey and white for camo. We play games based on invading NOW forces. This way you can use stuff from any modern collection and the NOW forces can use any OOB they choose. It's the ultimate in scenario flexibility.

While reviewing this chat I saw that Jenk20 made mention of a set of C in C rules called Armor Attack. Could I get a refresher on what the rule set looked like. Was it mimeograft with charts? pfc C in C, is this rule set still available?

Hi my name is Steve and I am kind of new to this forum so i was just wanting to say hi and wanted to see if any one was interested in developing a campaign with me. I have lots of different ideas but i am always looking for other imput. I live in a very small village in central Ohio and so I am sort of isolated from the rest of the world (so to speak). The one i have been mainly thinking about is based mainly on the world in the 1960's,70's and 80's ie... the cold war. It would start with a low intensity type conflict and escalate to high intensity with the backing nations becoming involved after certain conditions are met. This idea isnt so far fetched if you look at the Arab/Isreali Yom Kippur war in 1973. It started with the war of attrition in the period before October 1973 and almost led to the U.S. and Soviets troops intervening on behalf of whichever country they supported. Vehicles types wouldnt nessesarily have to be the super modern vehicles. You can still find a lot of t34 tanks or centurions or shermans in service in a lot of 3rd world countries. So it would easily run the whole list of military vehicles made since WWII to present day. If you are interested in developing something like this, you can contact me at dfnsman27@columbus.rr.com. thanks for taking the time to read this

I've been thinking of maybe doing one based off of an old SPI game called Oil War, in which the US invades Saudi Arabia during an oil embargo. James

Some options that we have played in the modern era: 1. Some European force, Germany for example, invading South Africa or have Cuba invade South Africa. 2. Cuba invade South America country of...either Brazil, Argentina, Chile, or possibly Florida and then fight a National Guard unit. 3. U.S. fight against Egypt, Saudia Arabia, Kuwait: could do it as a war game of the forces. All have Abrams as one example. 4. War game of two(or two side with muliple nationalities) fighting against each other. US vs. Germany. France & German against US & Poland or UK. Certainly this last bit has more interest recently with Iraqi Freedom. Greece & Turkey, Turkey & US, Spain(use m47 with 105's, amx 30 or leopard 2a6's for tanks; and for apc's amx10p's, or PUMA) & France(amx30, leclerc and for their apc use amx10p and vab's). 5. India & Pakistan: have india invade with the Arjurn tanks attacking an nuclear facility, possibly if the defending side loses, have a die roll to see if there has been a nuclear meltdown and everyone loses. 6. Japan vs. Russia over some island that have oil. 7. South Korea defend with t-80's that they have from russia vs. north korea. 8. China vs. Tawian: could be naval(with US help or land battle. 9. Japan defending either naval or land against China. 10. Egypt & Israeli war. Then you can have M1A1's against Merkeva's. I've used cinc's merkeva at merkeva 1's and ghq as merkeva's 3 w/120. Or US vs. Israel as a tactical war game. 11. US airborne vs. Russian (when Putin was opening his mouth prior to Iraqi Freedom) in one of the former soviet territories(i cannot spell it). 12. Bulgaria vs. someone....if you place an order for the bmp-23, ask cinc to provide hulls of the sau122(r-46) 122mm arty and glue those with turrets of r-74 (bmp recon), it is close representative of the bmp 23. also us same hull of sau122 and turret of bmp2(r-73) to make the bmp-30 for bulgaria. They did this several years ago for me, did about 37-40 of each type for 3 companies each, very appreciative to CinC. 13. At a convention years ago, we had a 6ft by 24(or30) feet and did yugoslavia, with about 5 different fighting forces all against each other. Then had a UN food convoy coming through, and the convoy had to barter its way through. If a force/war lord was not helpful, then the UN/NATO would fight. Hope that this provides some ideas for you. If you have any questions on any particular senario mention, post a question. If anyone else has any ideas for senarios, please let me/us know. Thank you, Chris

Lets see: News report; "BNN News"... The Peoples Republic of China has crossed the international border it has with India. The reasons for this are unknown at this time. The fighting is heavy and casualties are extreamly heavy. The U.S., U.K. and Pakastan have issued an ultimatum to China, "Cease immediately all military operations in India." The U.S., U.K. and Pakistan have been involved in war games and have (div/bde/btn) sized units in place. Thats a start. Just use your imagination an you'll do well. That piece at the start took all of 15 seconds to figure out. Mick

I just ran a scenario at a convention that involved "ethnic cleansing". Kryrg's decided to purge the Tajik enclaves within their country. Game involved "distractions":a Tajik military force, Tajik militia, cell phone towers, TV towers, CNN, Ukranian observers from the UN. Goal was to evacuate Tajik civilians and truck them North to Tajikstan all in 4 hours during the night. It started well, but then the Kryistani commander put off knocking out the main cell phone tower. The militia started organizing and alerting each other (clan family's). Then it was all over, the Bloodless Cleansing became a Bloody Cleasing and the militia was beginning to go over to the offensive. The game worked better than I believed. I thought sure something as blatent as the cell towers sticking up around the board would be dead giveaway but I guess we distracted the commander more than we thought with the other "distractions"

Just now re-reading alot of these posts...the Armor Attacks set was by Gary Blum. It was a classic beer and pretzles and a quick system to get down. It probably wouldn't do well with todays pieces though. It could easily be modified. Brad do you intend to restock this item or revamp it? I'm up for the tasking if Gary can't. Heck perhaps amongst those who post here we could develop a new set for CinC.

From the mind of Mister Furious the next Harold Coyle (trust me). Winter 2004. The new Iraqi military (mix of FSU and American leased or donated equip) turns on it's Western advisors (combined US/UK/AU). Most are anhilated but a small brigade sized element of remnants must run the gauntlet to the ports in Basrah. Very modern and updated Xenephon--March of the 10,000. A Macedonian scientist discovers a treasure in the stripper pits of worthless brown coal...a technique to produce a quality of solid fuel that has no modern equal and burns with a clean byproduct. Oil seems obsolescent. Demand is high and the flood of resources is quickly spent to upgrade it's ailing military--mainly from the Ukraine. Bulgaria and Albania quickly partner to learn recovery technques. Within months they merge to form the States of Macedonia. A new Macedonian empire seems to be in the making and nationalist fervor is high. Greece responds by massing on the border unwittingly diverting its attention from Turkey. The new States of Macedonia is recognized by the UN and the "FYROM" moniker is thrown aside. The national colors of the classic Alexander-era rising sun proudly flap in the wind. Greece allies itself with Serbia and attacks. Macedonia and its covert Turkisk alliance prepare to condoct a campaign that will change the face of the Med. Trapped in the middle is the NATO peacekeeping element--unsupported and in the way; desparate to choose sides...
